STARS CLUB INFORMATION

STARS VE Testing:

Our VE testing sessions are held on the fourth Saturday of each month from 9am till 1030am walkins always welcome. Please arrive early so you can aviod disrupting those taking a test. The VE session will be held at Worth Library, located at 6917 W 111th Street, Worth, IL 60482.

PRESENTERS WANTED:

Do you have any ideas for a presentation for the next meeting? Are you willing to make a presentation on a topic that is interesting, to yourself and the club? Then please drop an email to the club, or bring up the topic at a meeting.

We want our club to grow and make a difference in the community.

WEEKLY NETS:

All licensed Amateur Radio Operators are welcome to check into our general Sunday night net at 7:00 PM. Or our weekly Skywarn net on Wednesday nights at 7:00PM.

You need not be a member of STARS to check in. All are welcome.

MEETING LOCATION AND TIME:

STARS club meetings are held on the second Thursday of every month at 7:30 PM. The meetings are held at the Worth Library, located at 6917 W 111th Street, Worth, IL 60482.

Meetings are open to the public and all Amateur Radio Operstors. Meetings generally include a presenation on some subject of Amateur Radio or Community Service.

VHF/UHF REPEATER:

STARS owns and operates two repeaters. Our VHF repeater operates on a frequency of 146.640 MHz with a negative off set of 600Hz using a PL access tone of 107.2 Hz. Our UHF repeater operates on a frequency of 442.67 MHz with a positive off set of 5MHz and a PL access tone of 131.8 Hz.

Both repeaters are located on the roof of Metro South Hospital in Blue Island, IL, with the call sign of W9SRC.

STARS MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION:

You must have a valid license in Amateur Radio to be a member of STARS, complete the club's membership application and provide a copy of your current Amateur Radio license.

Please send your completed membership application, a copy of your Amatuer Radio license, together with a check for a year's dues to the STARS mailing address. You are also welcome to sign up at a meeting. You may make a cash payment in person at that time. Prospective members are encouraged to have a sponsor and to attend at least one or more meetings.

Membership dues are $25 dollars per year, $20 per year for those 65 and older, and are due June 1st, of every year.

Our meetings are open to everyone.

FIELD DAY DIRECTIONS

GPS COORDINATES:

North 41 degrees 34.224
West 87 degrees 57.196

DIRECTION FOR THOSE WITHOUT A GPS:

From the East: Appx 5 1/2 miles from La Grange

West 167th from la Grange. Pass Will- Cook Rd. 167th turns into Hadley. Keep going west. Make the righthand curve onto Chi-Bloom. Continue west past stop sign at parker. take right at the fork. Road turns into Bruce. About 1/2 mile down is the enterance to Messenger Woods. Follow road all the way to the end.

From the West: Appx 5 miles from 355

355 to Rt 6 ( the exsit for the new Silvercross Hospital) head east. App 1/2 mile to Cedar Rd. Turn left(north) at curve in road. Stay to the right. At stop sign turn right onto Bruce. About 3/4 of a mile down on left. Is the enterance to Messenger Woods. Follow road all the way to the end.
